I found that dinner is a mood, it’s a lifestyle, it’s a family culture. Each night my husband and I pour a glass of wine or some bubbly water, we cook dinner together with music playing in the kitchen. My kids hop in and out grabbing veggies or fruit off the counter. They read the menu board on the fridge to discern what’s for dinner that night, they ask questions, they engage, they beg to chop the vegetables and stir the soup. All six of us sit around the table talking about our days, the chaos of life fades for just a few minutes, but that’s all it really takes, just a few minutes.
I didn’t know it was possible to feel such consistent delight around a meal. I didn’t realize how much the right food would heal my family and bring us together.
Health is freedom, and food is about abundance.
Hi, I’m Jenni!
I’m a mom of two and a stepmom of two more. My husband is my best friend and we all live on a cute, little hobby farm in Bend Oregon. My journey to be a Nutritional Therapy Provider and Certified Autoimmune Paleo Coach started with my absolute frustration with dinner time. My husband and I were getting sicker and sicker from the Standard American Diet. The kids were eating, but weren’t healthy, we had several behavioral issues, allergies and hormonal issues swirling around our house. I’d lost my joy in food. There was no amount of planning, recipe scrolling or food prepping that was going to save me. But, when our son was diagnosed with a life-threatening autoimmune disease I knew our life had to change. We started with the foundations of sleep, movement, and food. Within a short period of time we saw a difference in our entire family. Kids slept better, behavior rebounded, allergies subsided, and suddenly, our house was running smoothly. I found a joy in cooking again, because I slowed down and understood the importance of a home cooked meal. I learned it was partly about the food, partly about the atmosphere in our house. I stopped rushing through meals and I stopped trying to appease everyone hoping they would all love every recipe. Instead, I focused on whole foods, nutrient density, and served good, slow food at every meal.
Education
I’m a certified Nutritional Therapy Provider. Certified from the Nutritional Therapy Association through a rigorous science-based program focusing on digestion, and a food first approach to health. This education was the culmination of all my life’s work up to this point. I’d never been so at ‘home’ till I found this career. I truly love working with families to find freedom in health. Everything led me here with the sufficient tools to thrive in this career path.
I am a Certified Autoimmune Paleo Coach as well. This education was focused on how food can impact family members suffering with autoimmune issues. There are more than 100 registered autoimmune illnesses, and hundreds undocumented.
I’m also a certified Master Gardener. Plants are food and I love plants. Learning about gardening and how to grow food has made my life so much richer. My garden is my happy place.
I also hold a Master’s from University Colorado Denver and a Bachelor’s from Washington State University.
